Truven 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals

Memorial Hermann Among Nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals

Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital were named collectively among the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics for 2016 for the seventh time. The Truven Health 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals study measures eight key performance areas: risk-adjusted mortality, risk-adjusted complications, core measures (a group of measures that assess process of care), percentage of coronary bypass patients with internal mammary artery use, 30-day mortality rates, 30-day readmission rates, severity-adjusted average length of stay, and wage- and severity-adjusted average cost. To make the list, Truven Health researchers analyzed 2013 and 2014 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) data, 2014 Medicare cost reports, and 2015 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare data. Society of Thoracic Surgeons CABG Three Star Award

Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute - Southwest and Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute- Memorial City earned a Three-Star Rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for quality related to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The STS composite quality rating is based on a combination of 11 National Quality Forum-endorsed heart bypass surgery processes and outcomes measures. These measures rate the performance of heart surgery programs in four areas: Avoidance of Operative Mortality; Avoidance of Major Morbidity; High Quality Intra-Operative Care; and Appropriate Perioperative Medication Usage.

Award SETRAC

Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council Awards Hospitals and Life Flight®

SETRAC is the agency responsible for coordinating trauma providers in a nine-county area of Southeast Texas. In its inaugural awards ceremony in 2016, Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council (SETRAC) honored hospitals and first responders who have exhibited outstanding performance in areas such as trauma care, stroke care, cardiac care, multi-agency teamwork, disaster preparedness and public education.

Memorial Hermann received awards in four categories:

  • Cardiac Award (less than 250 beds): Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital
  • Cardiac Award (more than 250 beds): Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital
  • Pediatric System of Care Award: Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital
  • EMS/Air Medical Partner of the Year: Life Flight

American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® Silver Receiving Quality Achievement Award

The American Heart Association has awarded its Mission: Lifeline® Silver Receiving Quality Achievement Award to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital and Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. The Receiving Awards are given to hospitals for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.

American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® Bronze and Bronze Plus Receiving Quality Achievement Award

The American Heart Association has awarded its the Mission: Lifeline® Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital. The Receiving Awards are given to hospitals for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks.

In addition to receiving the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving award, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital has also been recognized as a recipient of Mission: Lifeline’s Bronze-Plus award, which recognizes the hospital has reached an achievement score of 75 percent or greater for treating STEMI transfer patients within 120 minutes for at least one quarter.
