Life Line Screening

Millions of adults are at risk for vascular disease and stroke. At least 50% of people with peripheral vascular disease report no symptoms. Screenings can help identify risk factors that lead to stroke and other vascular issues before these events occur.

What is Life Line Screening?

Life Line Screening is the nation’s leading provider of quality health screenings. Since 1993, Life Line has performed quick and inexpensive vascular screenings on nearly five million people.

Eighty percent of strokes are preventable with Life Line Screenings, and they are fast, accurate and affordable. They are able to detect arterial abnormalities which can cause disrupted blood flow.

Am I a Candidate?

If you are over 45 and have at least one risk factor for vascular disease - smoking, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, lung disease or family history of abdominal aortic aneurism (AAA) - you should consider screening. Early detection of vascular disease can prevent serious and even fatal outcomes.

What Is Included in Screening?

A Life Line screening consists of four noninvasive, completely painless screenings using Doppler ultrasound technology.

Stroke screenings/carotid artery

A screening of the carotid arteries in the neck detects plaque buildup. The number one cause of stroke is linked to carotid artery blockage.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening

This screen can detect the existence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta. The vast majority of people who have an aneurysm have no symptoms. Learn more about aortic aneurysms.

Peripheral arterial disease screening

This screening is for peripheral arterial disease (plaque buildup) in the lower extremities, a condition linked to coronary artery disease.

Atrial fibrillation screening

Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), and may indicate a serious problem and can lead to heart disease, stroke or sudden cardiac death.

Schedule Your Screening

Vascular screenings are held regularly on Memorial Hermann campuses and at various community sites. Call 800-690-0289 to schedule your appointment.

Time and Cost

All four ultrasound screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete and the cost of a package that includes all four tests is $139. Payment may be made by credit card or check.
